Vegetable Garden

Andrew helped me build three raised garden beds-- using scrap lumber from the old marquee in front of the church.

I transplanted everything a couple of weeks ago, and planted the squash, corn, beans and peas as well.

Things have started sprouting, as you can see in the pictures below. Hopefully, the deer & the rabbits will keep away and we'll have a good harvest later this summer!

A trip to Accident, MD for the installation of Charlie Lehmann at St. John's Lutheran Church. Charlie is my former roommate Jen's fiance. It was great to see them, and spend some time with them at their parsonage. Fun to see where they'll be spending their first year(s) of marriage. About 3,000 blackbirds flew into the backyard today, poked around for some food, and then flew on down the road. It was noisy.

These pictures don't illustrate it too well, but they filled the entire field behind the church AND the trees surrounding the field.

I'm working two days a week as the "Communications Coordinator" for the New Jersey District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Mondays are in-office days, Thursdays I work from home.

It's nice to have a "real job," even if it's only part time. I didn't completely realize how much I missed going to an office, and interacting with other people at work. It's good to have a little piece of that back.

One of the first things I'm working on is an electronic newsletter. I sent out the first edition today, and it was fun to watch the results come in-- tracking who opened the email, and what links they clicked on to get more information, etc. Fun stuff.
